Always initialize the task with a practical approach in mind. A clog somewhere down the drainage pipe may be the most probable reason for the foul smell. Remove the sink’s drain pipe from its bottom with the help of a pipe wrench. Next, look into the pipe to locate a clog in the form of hair, vegetable leftovers, foreign materials etc. If it is reachable, remove it with bare hands otherwise a hooked wire can be utilized. If still the clog remains unreachable then a plunger or a specialized chemical comes to the rescue.

If however no clog is explored then check the traps in the pipe and see if they’re the actual source of that disgusting odor. Clean out the accumulation from the traps if there is any and apply relevant chemical in the place.

Always abide by all the necessary precautions while using such chemicals as they’re potentially harmful to your skin and eyes.

Alternatively certain household products such as vinegar, bleaching powder and baking powder can be used in order to keep away the foul smell from the kitchen’s sink. Only 2-3 cups of a typical white distilled vinegar poured into the pipe will ease the situation a bit. The foul smell would be overpowered by the vinegar odor. To eliminate the vinegar smell, flush the sink with hot water. After two or three hours vinegar smell would disappear.

Certain other household commodities such as a baking powder or a coarse salt with lemon juice can serve the required purpose of killing the smell in the kitchen sink.

One can also go for common bleach as a drain freshener. Keep the bleach out of the reach of the children and rinse the sink with cold water after the application of the bleach.
